On March 01, 2012, 3M ESPE™, building on the success of Filtek™ Z250 Universal Restorative, developed a stronger composite by adding proven nanofiller technology for enhanced physical properties, wear resistance, and polish.

Filtek™ Z550 Nano Hybrid Multi-Purpose Restorative is presented as an improved alternative to meet the needs of patients.

Filtek™ Z550 Nano Hybrid Multi-Purpose Restorative is a light-activated nanohybrid-based composite developed for anterior and posterior restorations, bonding to the tooth with adhesive aid.

12 color alternatives are available, including two opaque shades. All colors are presented as radiopaque and fluorescent.

Formulated with Filtek™ Z550 restorative for strong, reliable performance, enabling natural-looking, high-quality restorations.

Technical Information

Filtek™ Z550 Nano Hybrid Universal Restorative's filler technology is based on the hybridization of particles and nanoparticle engineering.

Based on the well-known Filtek™ Z250 Universal Restorative filler system, it incorporates original nano particles and clusters bonded to a resin matrix to achieve better performance and a more aesthetic nano-hybrid composite.

Result:

An optimized nano-hybrid composite that does not stick to hand instruments, provides excellent manipulation, and retains its shape until polymerized.

This unique combination of fillers delivers easily polished aesthetic results while being suitable for posterior restorations with strong mechanical properties and wear resistance.

Resin Technology

Based on Filtek™ Z250 resin system but with a portion of TEGDMA, PEGDMA replaced to reduce shrinkage.

Filtek™ Z550 Nano Hybrid restorative composite has lower polymerization shrinkage than other composites in its class.

Surface-modified average 3-micron or smaller zirconia/silica particles and surface-modified unclustered 20-nanometer silica particles. Filler ratio is 82% by weight (68% by volume).
